Home Is Where The Heart (Wifi) Is

"Home Is Where The Heart Is" - Gaius Plinius Secundus (23 AD)

I recently spent a weekend away at my Grandma's house in Scotland. As lovely as it was to see the Scottish side of family, I did find myself always searching for a wifi connection wherever I went. My Grandma doesn't own a computer, let alone a wifi router, which is fair enough seeing as she doesn't know how to use such a thing but rather frustrating on my part.

I know what you're all thinking, 'It's only 4 days, I'm sure you could cope without wifi Mhairi'. Ordinarily, I would have agreed with you but, when I got back, I realised I had never spent such a long time without internet connection. I know how incredibly snobby and ungrateful this must sound, and I genuinely did have a (mostly) good time when I was up there. And, if it meant some extraordinary wrong in the world was righted, I would give up my internet connection without a thought.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I didn't realise how much people these days just take wifi as a given. I've never really thought about it before but if I go out somewhere I almost always connect to their wifi whether I actually need it or not. It’s just something I do. When I got back home I spent hours on end catching up on Youtube etc. Which leads on to another realisation. I subscribe to a hell of a lot of people. I was only gone 4 days and there were at least 35 videos in my subscription box!

Despite my yearning for internet, I still stand by the fact that I do NOT think I’m an internet addict. I know people who, when not sleeping or at school, don't do anything else other than go on the internet. I, however, have a social life and actually go out and be with my friends instead of just messaging them (although I do a lot of that too).

You may or may not be wondering why the title is what it is. Another thing I have noticed is I only have 3 places where my wifi connects automatically; my school, my house and my best friend’s house. These are the places I am most often, evidentially, and probably what I would call "home" (minus school....I’m forced to go there :P). So, "Gaius Plinius Secundus" (Yes, I did spend time looking that up...don't judge) I think that it’s time for a change in your quote.

Baby Hamblett | A Fangirl's Reaction

Yes, I know, this is Union J related. To be honest though I don't think it’s possible for me not to write this post so you're just going to have to put up with it :)

At 9:30 am on Thursday 28th November Princeton J. Alexander Hamblett was born to Caterina Lopez and JJ Hamblett. It was great in anticipation as on the 18th September JJ tweeted to announce that he was going to be a daddy. That was the day when the fangirling began.

I've never seen a fanbase take news so well! Normally, whatever the news, there is a small minority who don't like it and post negative comments on all the social media websites. A member of a boy bands girlfriend’s pregnancy announcement can create all sorts of drama in a fanbase because it is a sign that said member is settling down and therefore no longer available. But, for Baby Hamblett, I didn't see one negative comment. Everyone was delighted by the news (including me) and was so happy for them both.

Since then I have been buzzing, literally so excited. I have met them twice since September and both times I have congratulated JJ. On the second time me and my friend Sophie, bought him a baby grow because we were so excited and that was why JJ followed me :)))

There have been many false alarms, like JJ and/or Caterina have tweeted something and everyone got the wrong idea and went crazy thinking that it was happening and then only calming down when we were reassured by JJ or Cat that it was in fact not happening. But this just proves the excitement of the fanbase as a whole.

And then the day came. On Wednesday 27th November JJ tweeted.
This was when everyone went mad. Like if you read this, it could mean anything but somehow we all knew. We all knew it was time and my timeline was filled with excited tweets and good luck messages (a lot of them my own). As soon as I woke up on Thursday morning I went straight to twitter to check. Nothing. My fangirl heart just had to wait a while longer.

All through registration and lesson 1. I was constantly checking my phone. Like I checked it every 5 minutes I was just so excited! And then at 10:20 he tweeted again.
As you can see from the amount of retweets and favourites compared to the other one, this tweet was one of the most exciting tweets ever.

So there you have it. Baby Hamblett, Princeton J. Alexander, was born. I fangirled my way through the day and victory danced my way home.

Congratulations to JJ and Cat and I wish all the best to the THREE of you in the future!

Meeting Union J - Number 2

Yes, I know. I promised no more posts about Boybands (Sorry!) but this one is special and i promise that , unless something amazing and union j related happens, i will stop posting about boybands!

On the 30th October 2013 at 5:28pm I met Union J AGAIN! Last time, the book signing was in Milton Keynes, which is only 10 minutes from my house, and so me and Sophie didn't have to get up too early, 5:30 Am. Yes, i know that 5:30 is really early but this time we had to get up at 4:30 because it was in Birmingham, so 5:30 would have been a lie in!

Because of the really early start, Sophie came and slept round mine the night before so that we wouldn't wake up her parents. She was asleep by 21:30! I don't know how she did it. I mean, i would have loved to have been able to go to sleep so early, considering the early start, but i was just too excited. I , finally, got to sleep at 23:30 (which is actually really early for me) .

We had set 3 alarms and they al went off simutaneously...which was quite freaky. We then had to get the train at 5:30 ish to get to Birmingham by 7.

When we got there, the queue wasn't even that long! I was so happy! We got wristnbands and then had the rest of the day to do nothing whilst we waited for the signing to start at 17:15.

It was fairly boring but then we met up with our other friends who were there so it wasn't that bad.

When they opened the queue for the signing we were running to get as close to the front as possible. We were like the 20th people :D

In the queue, me and Ellie (our other friend) were the only ones singing and we must have looked so starnge!

They finally came out and I screamed which meant i temperarily lost my voice (agh!) but by the time we got to the front, i had it back (phew! ).

This time was even better than last time because i actually managed to talk to them instead of just hysterically crying in their faces. This meant i was more calm and managed to get a extra signnature, a selfie with Jaymi and a photo of George which i was so so happy about!

As some of you may know , JJ and his girlfriend ,Caterina , are due to have a baby in about a month. As a Jcat, I am extremely excited and can't wait for Baby Hamblett to arrive! Me and Sophie, decided to go and buy a Baby-gro thing as a present to them both. It was the cutest thing ever! As a last minute decsion. we wrote our twitter names on the label and, low and behold, when we got home JJ had followed us!

Literally one of the best days of my life.!

My Selfie with Jaymi!

My Picture of George!

My Signed album and extra George signature!

We Define Insanity

When I did my The Best Days Of Summer post, i probably mentioned that me and my friends are mad. I never said quite how mad though, and that is what is most important.

When people think of mad, they proabaly think of things like laughing there heads off or occasionally going for a skip (we do both) but compared to some of the stuff we do this is completley sane. For example, have you and your friends ever eaten anti-bac because you wanted to find out was a poison expert was? (Its a special doctor btw) Or have you created the catchphrase "Give me the stabby" and ended up saying "give me the fan-ny" by accident instead ? Have YOU ever tried to use a headlamp to find glasses you have dropped in the dark but putting it on your chin?

I'm guessing, for most of you, the answer to those questions will be no.

You are also, probably, thinking... "why on earth would you do that?"

I recently compiled a list of all the funny quotes and moments I could think with my friends. It is now a 3 page word document in font size twelve. (That will probably be another blogpost in the future but lets get our heads round the level of insanity first, eh?)

Don't have a pic of us all, sorry :(

PHOEBE'S PARAGRAPH: You requested a paragraph so here you are. Credit to Phoebe for the video below. She is amazing and i love her and i swear down that all the clips in the video were form one lunchtime. :p
I don't know what else you write in this paragraph so I'm going to fill this last line with random words. Keys, Melon, Jug.

My First Time

This tag was originally done by Louise's Youtube Channel. Check it out here (Louise's Video)

So here it is, My First Time.

1. First Love
Well, let's just say i feel like love is a very strong word and you shouldn't say it untill you are absolutely sure that you mean it. So I would say that i haven't had my first love yet.

2. First Kiss
I am not gonna tell you the name of this boy but my first kiss was in Year 4 and was kind of forced upon both of us. Every Lunch our "friends" would grab us and force us to kiss. It was really bizarre because we had hardly spoken before.

3. First Boyfriend
Ended up being the same boy as above, in Year 5. No9t much of a relationship. Aha

4. First Pet
My First pet was my Dog. He is still alive and I love him to pieces. His name is Murphy and he is an Irish Terrier.
From Our Holiday in Cornwall this year.
5. First Word
I actualy haven't a clue what my first word was. I'll have to get back to you on that one :p

6. First Album You Ever Bought
The first album I ever bought myself (like with my money) was JLS - JLS . I used to be a massive Jls Fan. Although before that my parenst used to buy me albums and my first album i ever owned was Girls Aloud - Out Of Control

7. First Concert
My first Concert was Justin Bieber. I won tickets in a competition run by HMV. There were only 200 people at the concert so we were really close to the front.
After the Concert when he was driving off, i touched his hand. :D
8. First Friend
My first friend was Phoebe. I think its really unusual for your first friend to still be your Best friend 15 or so years on. :))

9. First Memory of Phoebe
This may seem odd but my first memory of Phoebe is us taking it in turns to sit on each other while we tickled each other. Yep.  Some may say we have a very forceful friendship.... I just think we're plain weird.

So that is it, the first time tag. And , before anyone says it, I know all these tags are meant to be on youtube but i find blogging a lot easier and i sound like a baby on film so yeah :)

The Vamps

Okay. So. I have recently found my love for the Vamps. I mean I've always known who they were through Futureproof but i have recently fallen deeply in love with them

Therefore, they deserve a blog post all of their own.

Let's just take a moment to appreciate the beauty of these 4 boys.

JUST LOOK AT THEM

And (Brace yourself for an excited fangirl) THEY ARE THE SUPPORT ACT FOR THE TAYLOR SWIFT CONCERT! ASDFGHJKKL OMFG

Me and Sara have spent the past hour fangirling.

Listen to this to find out what i'm on about.

Autumn Appreciation

Does anyone find that over the Summer months you want the heat to last forever? You start dreading the colder months and want to spend all day every day lounging on the beach in the sun, wearing shorts or hanging out with your friends.

Summer went way too quick this year. One minute I was on the beach in Cornwall, the next i found myself packing up my schoolbag ready for the new term. Year 11. That's the main reason i didn't want summer to end, GCSE year. And that can only mean one thing, endless hours of coursework and revision.

Every year I dread having to go back to wearing trillions of layers and dodging walking straight into muddy puddles on my way to school.

But I think what I forget is just how amazing the Autumn actually is. So here is my list of things I really love about the Autumn Season.

1. Jumpers

The thing I probably look forward to most about Autumn is the fact that i can start wearing baggy jumpers again without overheating or anyone making a fuss. I'm not a fan of jumpers that are too tight and cling to you too much. So any excuse to wear a bagy jumper is perfect really. I may start wearing a shirt underneath my jumpers this year because I am a huge fan of the collar trend.

2. Colours

When I think of autumn , I immeadiately think of Red, Brown & Orange. These are my favourite colours so it makes Autumn just that little bit nicer. All the leaves are changing colour which, i think, makes nature just that little bit more beautiful. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside just thinking about it.

3. Hot Drinks

All year round I am a huge supporter of hot drinks. But during Autumn it really makes you feel warm inside because the temperature is starting to drop outside. I also love seasonal coffees etc. from Starbucks and Costa. last year Starbuck's had a pumpkin one which was absolutely heavenly and Costa had a mint one which was very refreshing, also.

4. Fluffy Boots

Don't get me wrong, when the times right I am a lover of sandals and pumps but there's just something special about getting to wear fluffy boots again. It's a well known fact that if your feet are cold then its likely that the rest of your body will be cold as well. Why suffer, when there is such a simple solution? Fluffy boots!

5. Autumnal/Winter Candles

My favourite scent of all time is Cinnamon. And around this time of year they tend to bring out lots of cinnamon smelling products. My favourite has to be the candles though. I always think candles are really cute and the scent makes them extra special. I can't wait to stock up!

6. Halloween

I don't tend to do much on halloween but when I was a kid it used to be the highlight of my year. Dressing up all scary and meeting up with my friends for parties or trick or treating used to be so much fun! I love seeing all the children in their outfits when they come to my door!

7. Fair

Okay. So not everyone has this but in my town in mid-october the annual charter fair comes to my town. Basically, what it is is a massive funfair which, overnight, is set up on the roads in the town centre. It's so much fun and I lok forward to it every year because i am such a lover of rides. It's also an excuse to meet up with all my friends which is nice.

8. Wooly Hats & Scarves

I'm sensing a clothing theme here :p Bobble hats are my fave! Apart from the fact that I tend to get very cold ears this time of year, I just love that you can use a hat to acessorise a autumn/winter outfit. The same with scarfs (although, i tend to find my neck gets very hot).

9. Seasonal Anti-Bac

This is a little joke one for Phoebe :p Before school started, i bought a Pumpkin-Cinnamon Anti-Bac from Ebay and it smelt so good (it's all gone now) ! The word "anti-bac" has kind of caught on as an inside joke between us and so I thought it deserved a mention here.

10. Fireworks

I love fireworks. I know they're bad for the environment and scare/injure animals (which i dont agree with) but i love how pretty they are. No matter how old I get I will always look forward to the firework diaplay in my town. And, again, it's a chance to meet up with my friends :)

And there we have it! My 10 most favourite things about Autumn!

Let me know what your favourite things about Autumn are below and I'll see you sson!

Good-byeeeeee!

Taylor Swift Ticket Success

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've been ill :)

I was trying to think of a more intriging and inventive post title but literally couldn't think of one. So from the title you can probably guess what's happend.

I GOT TAYLOR SWIFT TICKETS!!!

On Saturday 1st February 2014 , me and Sara will be at a Taylor Swift Concert!!!!!

OMFG

I actually love Taylor so much and i was so upset when i missed out in her last tour :( But, literally 20 minutes before they went i on sale, I found out that Taylor was selling O2 priority tickets and , seeing as i am on O2 , I jumped at the chance! I was off sick so i figured it would be the perfect chance to try and get some as they go on general sale on Friday at 9:00am and i would be at school.

I got put in a virtual waiting room from 8:40 onwards ( the tickets went on sale at 9) and it was my turn to buy tickets by 9:02 ! It was amazing! I managed to get tickets in the upper tier ( bummer :/) of the O2 arena but they were one of the front sections so we will actually be really close!

I had to snapchat Sara because she was at school and that was the most discreet way of contacting her in class ( badman over here :p) . She was just as excited as I was.

121 Days untill we see her live!

We are going to dress up in completley red ( it's the red tour) , wear fairy lights and have light up banners. Maybe, we'll get in to club red? Who knows!

Meeting Union J

On the 28th of September 2013 at 5:58pm i met Union J. It was literally one of the best moments of my life. You might have guessed but I am a huge Union J fan and i was lucky enough to find out about a book signing in Milton Keynes which is only 10 minutes from where i live. We got up at 5:30 in the morning to go get wristbands but it was so worth it!!!!

We started queuing for the signing at 3pm and for pretty much that whole time i was in tears :p

All of them !!!!

Genuinally one of the best days of my life.

George gave me a hug because i was crying so much, Josh gave me a high five and a hug , Jaymi called me babe & JJ winked at me!!!!

It was actually so so good!!!!!

All Those Years Ago

That's right! It's time for the Throwback Tag.

1. What year were you born?
I was born in 1998 which makes me 15 years old.

2. Do you have any pictures of yourself from when you were younger? If so, show them.
Oh dear. You don't know how much I want to say no to this question. But here you are :/
WARNING AWFUL HAIR ALERT.
Yep. there you go. I was about 8 when this picture was taken and i was on holiday in Portugal.

3. What did you watch on Nickelodean when you were growing up?
In the UK we didn't have Nickelodean unless you payed loads for sky or something. The channels we had were CBBC and CITV. My favourite Citv programme was either, My Parent's Are Aliens or Sabrina the Teenage Witch. My Favourite Cbbc programme was Tracy Beaker.

4. What did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was a little girl I always wanted to be a Pet Sitter or , as I called it, a petist ( :/ ). I was always mad about animals.

5. Show a video of you when you were younger.
Don't think i have any. Sorry!

6. What were your favourite toys?
To be honest , I mostly liked to be imaginative and make up games of my own. But, i did love my Bear Factory ( Build-A-Bear now :p) bears. :)

7. What's the most embarassing moment of your childhood?
I'm not really surre but probably the many times I called my teacher Mum. Once i called my female teacher dad i think :/

8. Three Songs you loved as a child.
1. 5 Colours In Her Hair - Mcfly
2. Why does it always rain on me? -Travis
3. The Promise - Girls Aloud.

9. One funny thing you dressed up as on Halloween?
I think i went as a Ladybird one year.

10. Scary experience of your childhood?
I once hid in my wardrobe whilst playing hide and seek and the door got jammed. I used to scared of the dark and slightly claustrophobic so this was terrifying for me. I ended up being in there for 2 hours and my dad had to dismantle the wardrobe to rescue me.

So that was Tag Thursday #2. I hope you enjoyed it and i'll see you soon. :)

The Social Hierarchy of Teenage Girls

WARNING : DEEP POST

Before I start, I just want to say that by no means am I trying to offend anyone in the post. I'm simply showing you how I see things at my school and other local schools.

In every school there is a social hierarchy of teenage girls. Fact. They seem to be different wherever you go but this is how i see my school.

Right at the top you have what i call "the mean populars" . These people are generally popular amongst themselves and think everyone loves them but in actual fact people think they are bitches etc. They are the type of people that'll throw a party on a whim and get pissed all the time because they think it's cool. They likely wear skirts that bareley cover their arse and an inch of make-up. They look down at people any lower down the hierachy and think they are more superior and therfore do what they want. Bullies tend to come under this catergory too.  No one knows what makes these people "popular" because to be honest they are not popular because most of the people lower down don't like them at all.

Next you have "the nice populars" . These girls are popular because people like them. They are slightly lower down the ladder than the mean populars but they have the advantage of people actually liking them. Granted, these girls do tend to still have drama , parties and ridiculosly short skirts but i mean nobodies perfect. They are nice to those lower down the ladder than them when they come across them. But they won't go out of their way to talk to you. Only if you are the only one to talk to. If you pass them in the corridors they probably won't say anything to you. These girls are likely to be prom queen etc.

Here we have the "wannabe populars" . These girls may or may not have been popular in the past but now fall into this category. They tend to be the drug addicts and generally annoying people. The ones that have been popoular before have normally had an argument with the rest of the populars which has left them clinging onto the popular life that used to be instead of just accepting it and moving on, often leading them to drugs but not always. The one who haven't been popular before just want to be and so dress, act etc. just like the populars in hope of sneaking in. These girls tend to be horrible to you.

This is where i think i fit into this. "lower groups" . These are the people who don't aspire to be popular or anything but simply are content with the group of friends they have at that present moment. They just have a laugh and don't care about what people think. I think this is the best group to be in because why would you spend your life trying to be popular or maintain your popular status.  Granted, the girls in this group can be bitchy when they want to be. I'm not saying that the girls in this group are perfect but i just think it's better.

Right of the bottom we have "the misfits". There are hardly any of these at my school but from what i have heard from other schools this is a catergory. So, for your benefit, i will include it. These are the girls who don't really seem to fit in anywhere. I feel sorry for these girls and encourage anyone who feels they are in this group to pluck up the courage to go and make friends some people. I promise you that if you just be yourself people will accept you for who you are.

Please Do Not be offended by this post. I'm by no means saying that this is what every school is like this or that you have to be in one of these groups because you don't. :)

The Best Days of Summer

Hello!

For me, Summer 2013 was overall very good. Tbh, not as great as i thought it would be as many of my friends were on holiday for the majority of the break. But when we did get together it was great! I warn you now that this will probably be a very long blog post.

1. Aimee's 15th Sleepover.
From left : Aimee, Ella, Charli, Lily, Lizzy, Me , Phoebe
Aimee's party was literally the last day of school and so it was a great start to the break. It was 26 hours full of laughs, Just Dance, Miranda and Ritz Biscuits (don't ask). Quote of the day was : "Aimee, i've peeled uranus to make a volleyball!" Haha. Despite dominoes pizza not delivering all the food and me and Phoebe breaking the swing, It was a really good day!

2. My Party.
From left : Sara, Phoebe, Nushie, Ella, Lizzy, Charli, Phoebe, Me
My party was at snozone and we went ice-sliding. It was one of the last days when the majority of my friends were available which was nice. Please excuse my face, the spazzy helmets and the fact that lizzy isn't even looking the right way :p

3. Ella's Party.
From left : Me, Charli, Phoebe, Ella, Lizzy
You may have noticed that many of my friend's have birthdays in summer. It's creepy how close together they are. Ella's party was a smaller affair with just her close friends, which was so nice. We had a cute little picnic and went paddling in the river. It was really nice with just the 5 of us. "Lizzy, just remember you could strangle a chicken with that top"

4. Thorpe Park.
From left : Me, Bryony, Sophie
Different group of friend this time. These are my primary school friends. I like to meet up with them often so that i don't lose touch. Anna was also here but she was taking the picture :( This day was such a laugh and i still can't believe we managed to get Bryony on Detonater (she hates rides) . It was such a good day and we're already planning to do it again next summer :)

So, those are my best days of summer. There were so many more days that was just as brilliant. But these are the ones that stand out in my memory as a-m-a-z-i-n-g!

The New Girl In Town

Hiya! Welcome to my new blog! You'll have to bear with me while I get the hang of it but I hope this'll become a regular thing. I doubt this blog will be interesting, amusing to you or worth spending 5 minutes to read but I’ve wanted to blog for a while now and I figured that now was a good a time as any to start. So here I am, writing the first post for my blog. Please check out Louise's Blog . She is who inspired me to start this blog and she is so amazing.

Who is Louise?
Louise (Sprinkle of Glitter) is a Youtuber who makes videos about beauty and just her life in general. She is a fabby blog writer and I love her to bits. I admire her courage and hope that one day I could be as brave and fun-loving as her. I watch several other youtubers but Louise will always be my favourite as she is the one that I found first when browsing Youtube one day. I saw her Theme Park Fun video and from then on I just watched more and more of her videos and became hooked. Because of Louise I now spend a large majority of my life when I’m not at school or out refreshing my subscription box waiting for a video to pop up from Louise or the rest of the crew. This may be sad but I find their video's comforting and they help me to de-stress if I’ve been having a bad day. Thank you Louise if you ever read this. :)

So yeah, I will mainly just blog about whatever happens in my life. Nothing special but I think it'll help me de-wind and keep track of my life. So much funny stuff happens, especially with my group of friends, and we always end up forgetting most of it. So if you into that sort of thing then please keep reading. If not, then sorry for wasting your time.

Oh dear. This introduction post seems to have taken a turn for the worst. I'm meant to be persuading you to read my blog. Instead I have advertised Louise's blog and apologised for wasting your time. I promise Louise hasn't paid me to write this. Haha.

If you’re still reading then congratulations! Have a gold star! Thank you For Taking the time to read this blog post and I look forward to writing more in the future.

Yours Sincerely,
The New Girl
